The Harrows¶
The Harrows are a network of sea caves north of Saltmoor — about six miles up the coast, with the cave mouth reached by boat. Locals shun them, and with reason.
The caves can be entered only at low tide. When the tide turns it floods them, and near the end of its rise it comes in faster than the unwary expect, so the window is shorter than it first appears; those who misjudge it drown rather than simply wait out the water. Inside, the passages are a maze in which it is easy to get turned around, and something is said to have nested there.
The Vex Caves¶
The Harrows are the site of the Vex Caves, long a piece of the region's treasure-lore: the story went that a mage once built an entire workshop hidden inside the cliff, and that those who went looking for it did not come back — whether because they found something and stayed, or drowned in the tide, no one could say. The legend is now confirmed true. The party found the cave mouth about six miles up the coast, entered at low tide, and walked the drowned laboratory itself. It is recorded separately — see the Vex Caves.
